Manning Lake - Beeliar Regional Park

Manning Lake is located in the suburbs at Hamilton Hill. The park is ideal for family picnics or other gatherings. It has a playground, picnic areas and washrooms. The walk around the lake is short but quite beautiful, especially on a sunny day.

In the week beginning May 18, 2020 the Western Australian government eased some of the COVID-19 restrictions allowing indoor and outdoors gatherings of 20 people. Schools reopened in this week and people were encouraged to return to work. The easing of the restrictions was quite evident in the Manning Lake park. The weather was rainy and cold in the week prior to May 20th, so that probably added to the number of people visiting the park.

Below is a view of the lake from the children's playground.

The vegetation surrounding the lake is also home to the Motorbike Frog and the Western Bluetongue (skink). The lake water is harmful to people and access to the lake is very limited.

Dave found an Ibis and a Willie Wagtail wandering between the walkway and the neighbouring houses, while I found an ibis looking for food on the other side of the walkway.

In spite of the number of people on the path walking, jogging or biking; our walk was pleasant and peaceful...

...except for the crackle of cockatoos overhead as we were ending our walk.
